Meet the cast
-
ANDREA NIETO
PRODUCER/ PERFORMER/ CURRENT PRESIDENT
Andrea is a writer, producer, improviser, and community builder based in Denver, CO. Before the age of 30, they lost six of the people closest to them, including their mom, who died shortly after their 29th birthday during COVID lockdown—because timing matters, and grief loves an audience of one. In response, Andrea did what any stable person would do: got drunk and signed up for a stand-up comedy class. Five years later, that decision has spiraled into Dead Parents Club—a show that turns grief into structure, discomfort into comedy, and inherited trauma into something suspiciously well-produced. The show is both a tribute to the people they’ve lost and a celebration of the dark humor that made surviving their 20s possible. -
ALLIE O. BUBANAS
PERFORMER/ CLUB MEMEBER
Allie O. Bubanas is a Florida-based comedian, producer, and former pediatric cardiac ICU nurse who turns life’s darkest chapters into sharp, twisted, and high-energy comedy. Her work often pulls from her unconventional upbringing, loss, and a lifelong proximity to the absurd. As the owner of Tailwhip Comedy, she’s built a platform that blends storytelling, stand-up, crowd work, and controlled chaos into unforgettable live shows. -
BERNIE JANELLE
PERFORMER/ CLUB MEMBER
Bernie Janelle, she/her, is a queer social justice educator and political activist who uses improv, writing, storytelling, and interviewing to develop relationships with her students and colleagues. Through classes in improv, writing, and stand up comedy, Bernie has created a way of bringing out the best in people with her quick wit and warmth to build connections, show her gratitude, give back to her community, and have fun, too! -
MIKE GRAVAGNO
PERFORMER/ CLUB MEMBER
Mike Gravagno lost 12 people before he turned 20, wrote a graduate thesis titled Good Mourning, America, and then became a comedian. So he’s had some time to workshop the material. A published poet, essayist, and improviser, Mike is here to prove that grief ( like most things) is a competition. And he intends to win. -
PROFESSOR PHELYX
PERFORMER/ CLUB MEMBER
Colorado native Professor Phelyx is an internationally performing comedy mind-reader whose work blends sharp wit, old-world showmanship, and astonishing mental feats. Over a career spanning more than four decades, he has performed for audiences across the United States and in eight countries, headlined stages in Las Vegas, and appeared on television, film, and thousands of live theatrical productions. Known for his rare style of interactive “crowd-work,” Phelyx transforms audience members into the stars of the show while demonstrating abilities that seem genuinely impossible and very funny. Equal parts comedian, mentalist, and master of ceremonies, his marvelous work has a distinctly vintage appeal that charms any modern crowd.
-
RUTH HINER
PERFORMER/ CLUB MEMBER
By the time she was nine years old, Ruth Hiner experienced her first death - her grandmother. The following year she lost her grandfather. Both died in their home, and Ruth’s family moved in there a year later. There were ghosts. Lots of them. Her father passed during her final semester of undergrad, and her mother passed eight years later as Ruth and her husband Chris were driving to Pennsylvania for Thanksgiving. Sorting through her trauma led Ruth to return to school to become a psychologist, and today she’s a Doctor of Clinical Psychology. Improv was her reward for finally completing her dissertation and Ruth took her first improv class in 2013. She incorporates improv in her therapy and therapy in doing improv. Engage at your own risk.

SHELLEY OLLIG
PERFORMER/ CLUB MEMBER
Shelley Ollig discovered the amazing world of improv about 20 years ago, and latched onto the energizing, cathartic approach to emotional release. Reserved and reflective demeanor often took a back seat as she shared (sometimes odd) zealous enthusiasm through teaching classes, writing and performing sketches, attempting stand up, and accepting short-form and long-form improv challenges.
